Technical Report Modality

The technical report or technological article is the final product of a study (applied research or technical production) that accurately and objectively describes a problem-situation within an organizational context, as well as the resulting outcome or prescriptive solution. A technical report presents the results of administrative, technical, or managerial intervention within an organization, conducted using methodological criteria. These are academic works that prioritize the description of learning in the form of practical results, derived from experiences lived by organizations or professionals involved in processes that can be managed or improved using specific management techniques. It must be written with scientific and methodological rigor.

Guidelines for writing and developing the technical report:

– It should aim to solve problems in a practical way, even if based on applied disciplines.

– Its mission should be to develop knowledge relevant to solving problems in its research field.

TITLE (in the language of the text)

Introduction: The introduction should present the context and/or the problem-situation of the study. It should be brief and clear, stating what the report is about, what intervention was made in the organization, and what will be analyzed, clarifying the problem to be solved or reported. The objective of the report and the research method or how the authors interpreted the data to construct the report should be made clear. It is also recommended to outline the sequence of the report’s sections.

Theoretical References: A theoretical framework should be presented, related to the intervention made in the organization. This framework provides a theoretical context for the report and allows comparisons with existing theories.

Materials and Methods: The methodology should explain in detail how the technical report was developed: whether it was based solely on the student’s/professional’s practical experience, or if other professionals’ participation was involved. It should specify which professional skills were used for observation, analysis, and problem-solving, as well as the type of approach adopted (direct observation, direct participation, etc.). The problem to be reported must be clearly defined. The method should consider qualified primary and secondary information.

Analysis and Discussion of Results: This section should include: characterization of the organization and the analyzed problem, type of intervention and mechanisms adopted, description of the results obtained, analysis of the results by the authors, comparison with the theory presented in the theoretical framework, the most relevant contributions to the topics addressed in the report, the relevance to similar cases and the professional lessons that can be shared with the community.

Conclusions / Final Considerations and Contributions: This section should provide evidence that the proposed objectives were achieved. It should include proposals for companies or projects that may encounter similar situations. Any limitations of the work should be mentioned, and suggestions for new reports or technical/professional work should be presented.

References: References should be listed in alphabetical order at the end of the paper, following American Psychological Association (APA) guidelines.
